The current article provide information concerning modern knowledge about structural and functional organization of Rubella virus (genius <italic>Rubivirus</italic>, family <italic>Togaviridae</italic>), stages of viral reproduction.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Резюме. </bold>Обзор посвящен вирусу краснухи, его тератогенному действию; описанию синдрома врожденной краснухи (СВК), современных методов диагностики и профилактики инфекции.
